Produce from the Rye Community Garden
The Rye Fund at Sussex Community Foundation was formed in September 2008 and gave out its first grants in November 2009. The Rye Fund is an endowment fund of which an agreed percentage of the annual interest accrued is used to make grants to charities and community groups that benefit the local community, with an emphasis on improving social, cultural and educational provision, promoting the well-being and viability of the market town of Rye as a sustainable social and economic hub of the surrounding community, and improving and maintaining the built environment of Rye.
Awards have gone to groups as diverse as the Rye branch of the Bexhill Food Bank, Camber Memorial Hall, the Ferry Road Health Centre patient participation group, RHSC Sailability, Rye & District Community Transport, Rye & District Sea Cadets, Rye and District Street Pastors Initiative, Rye Christmas Festival, Rye Cricket Club, Rye Festival of the Sea, Rye Museum Association, Rye Wurlitzer Academy, Strandliners CIC, Winchelsea New Hall, and the Rye Community Garden.
The Rye Fund gives grants of up to £2,000 to non-profit making groups set up specifically to benefit local residents. Applicants must have a presence in the town itself or within a 6 mile radius and smaller clubs are particularly encouraged to apply. We welcome projects that improve social, cultural and educational provision in Rye and district, those that promote the well-being and viability of the market town of Rye as a sustainable social and economic hub of the surrounding community and those that improve and maintain the built environment of Rye.
