After more than 60 years, the trustees of the Argus Appeal, the charitable arm of The Argus newspaper, has decided to close the appeal. The remaining funds have been transferred to Sussex Community Foundation.

Over the years, many Sussex people have hosted gala dinners, cycle challenges, golf days, carol concerts and much more to raise funds for the Argus Appeal. We want to join with Elsa Gillio, the driving force behind the appeal, and all the trustees in thanking everyone who has helped.

The new fund will be a Sussex-wide fast track grants programme – the Argus Appeal Fund. Most grants will normally be up to £1,000. The fund will be generally aimed at smaller charities, voluntary and community groups or individuals in need, and allows us to provide a quicker turn around for applicants who have a more immediate or critical funding need.

Applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year, using this online application form. The fund has its own guidance which you should read prior to making an application. Grants will normally be for up to £1,000.

You can also  visit the Grants page for further details on applying to Sussex Community Foundation.
