American Express has held a fund with Sussex Community Foundation since 2006 and is one of the Foundation’s founder donors. The American Express Fund has given out grants to a total value of over £0.6 million to Sussex charities and community groups. The fund’s charitable objectives are to make grants to groups that support their community in the following ways:

• by developing new leaders for tomorrow by promoting leadership in the non-profit sector
• by promoting volunteering and community engagement, including by American Express employees, and by helping disadvantaged people into work
• by promoting diversity, social inclusion and equal rights.

The fund makes grants once a year, usually in our Autumn round.

CEDP Chinese Centre is a charity dedicated to the promotion of Chinese Culture in the UK and offer a range of services and programmes to enhance the lives of community members: classes in Chinese Language and Culture; Chinese days in schools; culture events; workshops; educational hotline and the UK/China Business Forum. They were funded £4,996 in 2021 from American Express for their online and in-person community workshops.
