Wealden Citizen’s Advice (WCA) provides support to those most in need in the community. Clients are five times more likely to be living on a low income than the general population and three times as likely to be living with a long term health condition or disability. There are an estimated 14,850 households living in poverty in Wealden, with over 2500 children living below the poverty line. This funding will train up to nine senior generalist advisors to be able to provide primary debt advice to clients in need of help. Last year 960 clients had financial problems; and WCA were able to support 212 through complex casework, however some clients need more than general advice and this funding will enable us to identify the need, research, develop and provide specialist bespoke training to senior general advisors to help more clients.
