The Real Junk Food Project Brighton

The Real Junk Food Project’s mission is to serve healthy food to our community from surplus food which was destined for landfill. We use approximately 72 tonnes of ‘waste’ food annually. We serve 600 meals every week at our cafes and provide food for the community at the Bevendean Food Hub. This funding will contribute towards a chiller unit in the new electric replacement vehicle (NISSAN e-NV200 ELECTRIC Acenta Van) being purchased which will extend the life of foods transported and enable the organisation to collect certain produce that needs to be kept at a certain temperature. We of course have to strictly adhere to food safety rules which mean that this conversion is essential. Our plan is to secure most of the funding to buy and install a chiller in a new van which we will top up with the proceeds from the sale of our current chiller diesel van.
