St Matthais supports its local community by providing both Christian programming and, through working with community partners, support for those experiencing poverty, homelessness and mental health struggles. Courses and activities are also run to explore and strengthen relationships across the many stages of life.

This funding is being requested towards the running costs of a new food bank being opened in the deconsecrated church St Richard’s Hollingdean by a team from St Matthais’. The two largest costs associated with this are food parcel purchases and the Project Manager’s salary.
