Crossroads ESBH provide high quality respite care enabling carers to take time out of their caring roles to spend time doing things such as see friends, attend appointments, shop or take part in leisure activities. The focus of their organisation is supporting carers and enabling them to have a break. The grant will be used to expand their crisis respite care service, offering carers in need free respite care. Crisis care is needed when a carer reaches a stage where their caring role is causing them to experience a rapid decline in their mental or physical well being and without the urgent intervention or crisis respite care then this decline will continue. Many carers are unable to fund crisis respite care themselves and they face being stuck in a cycle of urgently needing respite but being unable to access it, leading to the possibility of long term issues.
