The Rye branch of the Bexhill Food Bank operates under the umbrella of the Trussell Trust an is staffed by volunteers. This grant will help to meet the current costs of the food bank, which are approximately £1000 per week. They provide food on average to 200 families per week and purchase 85% of the food they distribute which costs between £500 and £1500. They cannot support the demand solely from donations and need to purchase bulk supplies.
Current forecasts on the pandemic and the economy indicate a need to ensure our stocks of food are adequate to meet increases in demand.
