Sussex Community Foundation provides an effective means for other charities and trusts to achieve their aims.
For example, we can help charitable trusts with grant making, enabling trustees to target areas and needs they might not otherwise reach. In other cases, we have helped charitable trusts that have decided to wind up their affairs. Managing a charitable trust over a number of years can be a challenging task, particularly if the original trustees are retiring or the administrative demands are becoming burdensome.
Recent guidelines published by the Charity Commission suggest that trustees seeking to revitalise ineffective trust funds, or looking for an effective way of carrying on their good work in future years, might consider releasing their funds to a community foundation as part of their appraisal of options.
