The Pelham is a local Christian charity that enriches lives in practical and diverse ways for the community in Sidley, Bexhill. The Pelham in Bexhill is a host and provider of activities and opportunities, working in partnership with local organisations through the community hub and coffee lounge. It has formed a coronavirus community response team to support the local vulnerable community, with 20 volunteers, 15 of which are new recruits to offer practical help, such as shopping, prescription collection and posting letters, to enable the most vulnerable people to stay at home. In partnership with Rother Voluntary Action, they have offered organisational support to most in demand services in Bexhill Caring Community and the Bexhill Food Bank and expect this demand to grow over the coming weeks. This grant will help to cover the additional costs of working remotely and adaptions, staff costs, volunteer expenses and an emergency fund for those that are in financial crisis and food poverty.
