The Crawley Cultural Fund at Sussex Community Foundation is open for its third round thanks to support from Arts Council England. Grants are open once more for community groups and voluntary organisations working to increase arts activity and community engagement for people in Crawley.
Previous recipients of grants include:
The Right Here Festival – remembering, celebrating and exploring the resilience of residents during lockdown 2020, by championing local artists and creatives.
Louise Blackwell, Creative Director at Creative Crawley said: “Thanks to a grant from the Crawley Cultural Fund at Sussex Community Foundation we were able to deliver a top quality online and in person festival, showcasing the range of creativity in Crawley. The festival included music from local bands, the premiere of a podcast series about walks in Crawley; ‘People’s Pathways’, live interviews with Crawley creatives, workshops, spoken word poetry and much more.”
Ensemble Reza – a charity that delivers welcoming virtuoso concerts and accessible education programmes. They were awarded £4,730 from the Crawley Cultural Fund last year to develop a community programme that would ignite young people’s passion for music in Crawley.
Culture Shift – who provide creative spaces for people to meaningfully connect, using creativity as a catalyst for change. They have been running ‘Creative Café’ mini career events for student groups.
They received £4,910 to produce five films with local digital professionals, providing students from Crawley College with work experience opportunities.
“We are delighted to be able to provide these grants again this year, especially at a time when the pandemic has had such a profound effect on both communities in Crawley and people working in the arts” said Kevin Richmond, CEO of Sussex Community Foundation. “This fund is important as arts and culture can help to bring people together, provide new skills and support people’s mental and physical well-being.”
