A new fund supporting youth social action across England has just been launched. UK Community Foundations will distribute grants for local youth social action opportunities through their network of 43 community foundations in England. Sussex Community Foundation has now opened its Youth Social Action Fund for applications – you can read the criteria here. The deadline for applications is Friday 15th September 2017. This new fund is supported by the Big Lottery Fund, boosted by Comic Relief, Pears Foundation and UK Community Foundations, and forms part of the #iwill Fund to help encourage youth social action. Currently, 40% of young people regularly engage in social action, such as campaigning, fundraising, and volunteering. The #iwill campaign hopes to increase this to at least 60% of 10-20 year olds taking part, by the year 2020. Step Up To Serve is the charity behind the #iwill campaign.
