The Worthing & Adur Fund supports small charities and community groups working in Worthing and Adur. Grants of up to £1,000 are available and applications should be made on our standard Sussex Community Foundation application form.
The Worthing and Adur Fund was set up in partnership with the Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce. A number of local Worthing people and businesses were founder donors, each giving a minimum of £1,000. These donations established a core endowment fund, the income from which, as it has grown, has enabled the Fund to make grants to many charities and community groups from Worthing and Adur.
Grants given by the Worthing and Adur Fund in 2017 were:
Adur Sea of Lights | £420 | Adur Sea of Lights put on an annual winter lantern parade organised by a collective of enthusiastic Lancing residents. Funding is to help with general event costs. |
Heene Community Association | £1,000 | Heene Community Association serves the deprived wards of Heene and Central. Funding is to help provide much-needed computer facilities and training, including ‘speak easy’ computer systems for the blind and visually impaired. |
Kamelia Kids Day Nursery | £1,395 | Kamelia Kids provides a caring, nurturing, integrated nursery environment for all local children, including those with complex medical and/or life-limiting conditions, as well as children with a broad range of social, educational and additional needs. Grant is towards setting up a Beach School project at a beach hut on Worthing seafront. |
Over the Moon Shoreham CIC | £1,000 | Over the Moon Shoreham CIC put on creative, community events in Adur for all ages, largely centred around craft practice. Funding is to help with costs of delivering a workshop for the YARN 20/20 project. |
Tide of Light Community Group | £450 | Funding for part of an arts outreach programme which will reach over 750 children who will make lanterns. |
